A dump truck driver suffered life-threatening injuries during a Wednesday morning crash on Ohio 63 that damaged the Interstate 75 overpass bridge.

A Kenworth dump truck driven by Michael Lainhart, 62, of Middletown, collided around 10 a.m. with a 2013 Hyundai hatchback driven by Tracey Corso, 47, also of Middletown, who suffered minor injuries. Both were taken to Atrium Medical Center, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Lebanon Post.

The impact caused the truck to also strike the bridge, sending concrete onto the northbound lanes below. Several vehicles were struck by fallen debris but no injuries were reported, troopers said.

I-75 was heavily backed up Wednesday after the morning crash led to the partial closure of the highway.

The damaged bridge on state Route 63 had to be inspected by the Ohio Department of Transportation, the highway patrol said.

Troopers also were assisted at the scene by the Monroe Police Department, Monroe Fire Department and EMS, Liberty Twp. Fire Department and the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
